How do I differentiate for students at different proficiency levels in the same class?

How to Structure Lessons with Learners at Multiple Levels:

With a variety of learners in the same class, the video below covers what I recommend for organizing your lessons. It can take a little practice to get the hang of it but it works extremely well:

But, let it be said here: You cannot teach 3 different classes at the same time, not without making yourself, and probably your students, miserable. You are one teacher, and you can teach 1 class at a time.

Anytime you are teaching a lesson to the whole class, I recommend choosing a topic and goals that the average student in your class will be able to accomplish. When you split up into smaller groups, you can set additional challenges for your stronger students, and more incremental steps for your struggling students.

Differentiation is a big and fairly complicated topic. You can read more on differentiation by checking out the articles here in the support documents as well as my book Kid-Inspired Teacher.
